I have the sickness... buying a new truck
Went and looked at it and agreed on a price today, going to pick it up in 2 weeks time (sorry for the bad cell pic)
Original owner, original everything. '72 with a 350/4 speed, 50k on the clock, dual wheels and a factory flatbed

Love the patina on this one and the faded graphics as well. Keep posting pictures and progress on your project!

Re: I have the sickness... buying a new truck
The current plan is put it back on the road basically as is! I'll go through all the mechanicals, but it was on the road up until January so not much should be needed. I'll replace the wood in the flatbed (though I may have a line on a '68 with a working dump bed setup that may find its way onto this chassis).
It will need outer rockers and a hood (which comes with it), but that's basically it for body work. I'll probably clean up and paint some of the rust, but I love the door logos so they're staying put for now!

Re: I have the sickness... buying a new truck
A few better pics
Can anyone tell me if the bed strips on the flatbeds are the same as regular trucks? They certainly look like it, but I haven't measured to confirm that they are.

Re: I have the sickness... buying a new truck
I've never saw a factory flat bed but those do look like regular bed strips. What's wrong with the hood that's on it. It'd be a shame to mess up the matching patina.

Re: I have the sickness... buying a new truck
I know! The entire front lip is rotted clean through, and the hinge point on the passenger's side is gone as well. Maybe it could be salvaged, but at first look it sure didn't look like it.

Re: I have the sickness... buying a new truck
Does your truck have the 19.5" rims on it? I have a 70 of the same truck and the biggest problem is finding relatively inexpensive tires in that size.

Re: I have the sickness... buying a new truck
It originally had the 16.5" split rims, but now it has a set of late-model 16" budd wheels and tires on it.

Re: I have the sickness... buying a new truck
I have a hood that is rusted the same way. The outside is perfect, though! I have another wrecked hood with food in we structure. I plan to cut the two up to make one good one but haven't gotten a "round tuit".

Re: I have the sickness... buying a new truck
Brought it home today!
After a new fuel pump, some new fuel hose, flushing the lines and new gas, she started right up! It drives really quite well. I'm having some kind of weird issues with the choke that remain to be sorted out but I'm getting there. Oh, and now it's "gender" confused (this is the good hood that came with it) The family is growing!

Re: I have the sickness... buying a new truck
I can only imagine what your K/10 would say if it could talk in this pic:
I think it is something a weight lifter says when they lift too much! lol Luckily once you get the C/30 up and running ready to go you will have a worthwhile tow rig.

Great looking truck. I like all these old trucks, but the duallys a little more. I guess because I am still an ole farm boy at heart.
