Creative Power Plants

I am really curious about how many 60-66 rides there are on this forum that sport something OTHER than the typical small block chevy.

I happen to be a Pontiac engine fan....

How about some photos of other creative engine powerplants??????????

So what is out there? Buick? Cadillac? Mopar? Or even the "F" word..
F-o-r-d-???????

An LS2 is DEFINATELY not a typical small block...

A flat head is something I never thought of... that would look so cool..

I love diesel power! Dude that Dodge diesel is cool looking in that panel..

Re: Creative Power Plants

Pic's dont do it justice. It's still in mock up right now and I'm still working on making it fit. It intrudes on the passenger compartment a LOT. But when done I think it will be one for the books.

Re: Creative Power Plants

It's nowhere near finished and won't be for awhile but I'm doing a multi-carbed LS swap with a T56 six speed in my '66. Will have four two-barrel Weber's. I bought a cheap 5.3 for mock up but I eventually want to build a destroked LS2 using a 4.8 crank, hollow valve LS3 heads, with a solid roller cam, bigger pushrods, shaft rockers, etc, to make it rev to ~8500 rpm.

Will look like similar to this.

Re: Creative Power Plants

I have a 2.2l SEFI 4 cylinder in mine. People who say that a 65 is too heavy are just plain wrong, it's peppy and drives just like a normal truck, in fact I have had a 2.2l 5 speed s10 and I think this is slightly faster. It won't win any street races but that's not what it's for anyway.

Too heavy??????
My problem with my 63 pro-street is that the back 2/3 of the truck is too light...
My neighbor bought a 65 GMC from me with a 193 6 cylinder that pulls his work trailer without an ounce of trouble.
Post some pics of the 4 dude...
Would love to see it.

My 63 is a pro-street. I back halfed it then found out I made a rather big mistake so I cut it all off and I am building the frame over.
I have a 440 CID dual quad motor and I am toying with changing out the TH-400 for a 4 spd auto..

My wife has a 63 Chevy short step that I have a nice Pontiac 326 4 bbl, 200-4R trans and a nice 3.42 screw in the rear.

I have 2 other trucks, a 65 and a 66. (Chevy and GMC respectively)

Re: Creative Power Plants

Mine is just the orig 283 but I always thought a dual quad 409 4 speed would be cool...

I am also a Pontiac fan... when I was young I knew a bunch of people with them. My sister had a nice 69 Lemans, best friend had a 69 gto that we converted from auto to 4 speed in my driveway and one of my current friends has a very nice 69 firebird that actually used to belong to the same friend that used to own my truck.

Nah, all v6's only came naturally aspirated except the toro-flow diesel. I would love to see pics of the one with a blower though!

Some guy in central Michigan had it.. I didn't get photos but he did say it was a 66 351 V6.
It was a few years ago.
