Washer Jug Cleaning
Has anyone found a good way to clean there washer jug? Mine is in nice shape but is yellow/stained from age.
I have heard that bleach works but not sure. There are some NOS ones on eBay but I have been outbid 4 times and I refuse to pay more than $30.00 for one. Any advise is appreciated. |

Re: Washer Jug Cleaning
I've never tried cleaning the washer jar but other yellowed plastics came out fairly decent using this recipe.
Pull the jar out and pour in 8oz or so of lemon juice, a fist full of salt, and some small cube icecubes. Shake the jar and swirl the mix til your arms get tired. Repeat a couple times. Theory here is the citrus will chemicaly break down the stains, the salt acts as a sand paper, and the cubes are an agitant. let us know how it turns out.

I am going to try to find a new one first but if not, I will get some lemons and try it. Sounds crazy but worth a try. Thank you for the information. |

Re: Washer Jug Cleaning
Tom,
I've found the washer pump on these trucks is an Achilles heel. So, I installed a washer bottle from an S10 I got at the yard for 10 bucks. They have the pump built right into the bottle, and everything bolts on and wires up really easy. As an added benefit, you get a larger capacity bottle that's also clean due to being so new Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Washer Jug Cleaning
Thank's A.J, I do agree that the late model pumps are much less hassle and hold more fluid. Actually my pump works good and I don't drive the truck in the bad weather. I am trying to get everything under the hood 95% original. I just spent $300.00 from various board members to help with that.
Thank's to all for the help and suggestions. Tom |

Re: Washer Jug Cleaning
Here are a few from when I first got it. Not much different now. The engine is blue and has a long style waterpump. The aircleaner, valve covers, exhaust manifolds, etc are not correct for the truck.
I have recently just purchaced the above mentioned items from some of our awesome board members and will get the parts preped and ready to install. Lot's of work but I like it that way. |
