Possible C-30 purchase

I am going to look at this truck, a 1975 C-30, in the next few days. The information I have on it are from the owner is pretty sketchy.

It has been setting quite a few years, but supposedly had a new motor V-8 of unknown size with a new manual transmission (top loader). The owner says it is a 5 speed, but I think that is counting reverse so it is probably a SM-465.

When I look at it I will take some pictures and see if I can figure if we can agree on a price.

I have a question which is how heavy is this truck and what size trailer would be needed to carry it?

I am normally on the 67-72 side of this site so my knowledge of '75 trucks is pretty limited.

Re: Possible C-30 purchase

We looked at the truck above for a while today and came to an agreement on the price with the seller, $1000.

Originally I was told that the truck had not been started in many years so when the seller told me that she had just moved the truck under its own power I was surprised.

We will pick it up Sunday and bring it home. I am sure I will learn a lot about the truck after I get it home and look over it real good.

Originally it had a 454 and now it has a newer small block with the alternator on the passenger side and Hei distributor.

It originally was an air conditioned truck, but most of the components were removed with the original engine.

It is indeed a compound 4 speed with a granny low, instead of a 5 speed.

I will post more pictures after I get it home.

Now I have trucks in 3 different eras, 1967, 1975 and 1992.

Re: Possible C-30 purchase

Thank you. Overall it is a pretty solid start for a me to restore and drive. I want to put to use some of the stuff I learned from my son when we built the '67.
