wtb: Short bed with no rust or dents....
I need a short bed for a 78 chevy that is in good condition with no rust and minimal dents. Can you buy these new? If so where. It would have to be in Fl. or somewhere close unless shiping is not to bad. Thanks

Captkaos, It looks good from the pic. Has there been any bondo work done to it? How is the rust and dent situation? Why do you want to get rid of it?
Thanks Mike

4th pic shows the worst spot where the paint is scratched. There is no bondo in it that I have found, but the paintjob is a 20 footer. They did a poor job o prep work, but it is basically what you would get if you went to MACCO. I am getting rid of it because I currently don't have a use for it. It was going to use it on another truck, but I have to many to work on right now. Technically I don't have to sell it, it is just for sale. It is off an '80 model.
At one time http://www.gmcpauls.com/ was selling complete 73-87 beds. They were pretty high, but they were new. http://www.captkaoscustoms.com/temp/bed1.jpg http://www.captkaoscustoms.com/temp/bed2.jpg http://www.captkaoscustoms.com/temp/bed3.jpg http://www.captkaoscustoms.com/temp/bed4.jpg http://www.captkaoscustoms.com/temp/bed5.jpg

That dosent look bad!! I am working on geting a ride up there now. If I can make it happen, and the money is still in my pocket then this should work unless I find one closer.
Thanks, I will let you know within the next week.

One more question, could you take a small magnet and put it around a few of the more popular areas of rust to be sure there is no bondo? Because I would not want drive that far and have a bed that is held together with bondo. And do you think that it would need to be striped of paint or would a good sanding work? Thanks for the pictures!!

Kevhill85, good price but you are to far away!! Wish you were closer.
Bigblock 73, I will check that one out closer!! Thankyou!! That one is close enough to go look at and see if I like it. I thought the 81's and up had a little different line to them? The guy said it will fit mine though. Mike

Do you know what side the gas filler would be on for the 85 bed?
Michael

79-87 will be on the opposite side as a 73-78? One version has a gas cap, the other has a gas door and they are on opposite sides.
I will check again, but before I found no signs of bondo. The bed really needs to just sanded down and repainted.

The listing that is on ebay disapeared!! The guy sent me an email saying he started a new auction and he added pics. I went to look at it and it was gone by the time I got there. I sent the guy and email asking what happend and he said someone accidently hit the buy now while he was trying to bid!! So now I cant try to out bid the guy because its gone!!

Man, that sucks. What kind of knuclehead would click the buy-it-now and not know it? Anyway, I'd be kinda nervous about buying anything like that from eBay unless it was close. I always like to physically inspect stuff before I buy it. What is one's treasure is another's junk.

This is only about an hour and a half from where I live. That is close enough to go look and see if it is worth it. How dumb can someone be!! It says in big capital letters: BUY IT NOW! Then it says BID! How can you get those mixed up? I think the guy did it on purpose. He did that so no one else could bid and it bought him alittle time to get the money together!!

The guy probably knows what he was doing as he has had over 100 ebay transaction. He probably didn't want to get into a bidding war with someone and loose it.
