Putting fiberglass resin over a cloth wrapped dash?

This isn't really audio, but it's fiberglass, so I figure y'all will be most knowledgable. I've really been wanting to wrap my dash with camo for awhile now. The problem with that is that I don't think it will be durable, and even if it is will get dirty and be hard to clean. I was thinking I might be able to put some fiber glass resin over it to solidify it. No matte, just the resin. Would it stay clear? Or would it look a little opaque or something? From my knowledge it would be clear but I'm just not sure.

Depends on the resin used. Some have UV protection, others don't. You will want a quality resin like what is used for surf boards. You can get a number of gloss level finishes and you could even top coat it clear with a UV protectant. If it's going on the dash, UV sun exposure would be your biggest issue.

Yes, you can do it. But if you want to keep it from yellowing, make sure you use something designed for sun exposure vs. a resin you topcoat.

I am not sure if this is a good suggestion or would work as well as the resin.... but would a clear epoxy like used on bar tops be a good choice?

Something like this? You can sand and buff. Not sure about UV like Jimmydean said above, but I have seen it used on outside bars before. Never used it personally.

You need to make sure the same though with the epoxy about the UV rays (needs to have UV protectant), or it too will yellow/fog on you. I didn't know this when doing a friend's tiki bar and looked to **** in 1 year.

Think most of the bar-type clears are pour on, cant imagine doing it on a dash. Unless you want to do your floor boards and vents while your at it.

I wasn't sure if you could apply with a brush etc., so maybe it wont work, if the only way you can do it is by pouring it.

Whichever direction you go, keep us posted. I would be curious to see how it turns out.

Well if you removing the dash...

Another thing to keep in mind would be the glare from doing am epoxy across the dash.

That is a good point also, as I can imagine the epoxied dash would glare more vs. a painted dash like you normally see.

Resin coated cloth seems to be a very common thing to do to create custom speaker boxes so I see no reason it wouldn't work as a dash wrap too.

Why fiberglass? Why not spray camo and automotive clear?
If your pulling the dash you could hydrographic it
