Different steering wheel

After replacing the front brakes and the steering box, I wanted to get a new (different) steering wheel. I was looking for a smaller diameter as well as something that will look good in the interior.

I found a 15" 69 Chevelle steering wheel on CL for $45. Installed it in place of the 17" stock unit using the same hardware that the truck used. I now have 15" on it that I think looks good. It matches the color of the new dash pad I have and carpet.

The truck seems more positive feeling on the road as well. I think I like it. I'll post more pics when (if) I get the carpet and dash in.

Your opinions are welcome.

Vince

The wheel looks good with your interior but are you sure about it being a 69 Chevelle wheel? It looks like a later model wheel to me.Doesn't matter though it looks right at home.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

I am NOT sure of the year of the wheel. I was told it was from a 69. I went to eBay, knowledge book of all, and found a similar horn button that said it was 71-72 Chevelle, Camaro, etc. I'll keep looking until I find the wheel also.

Thanks for the looks good comments. It's good to know I am not alone.

Cool Re: Different steering wheel

The wheel looks nice with the color scheme. For some reason the wheel looks like a Monte carlo are a Chevelle luguna wheel to me but not sure.

Re: Different steering wheel

WOW Chevette?? That means I have a Vette steering wheel on it. Thanks Andy....

I wonder if I'll get better fuel economy now. I'll put the SS badge in the center and that will make me feel better.

Re: Different steering wheel

thats a good looking wheel. same thing that was on mine when i got it. it's what we used to call a vega GT steering wheel. in the 80's they where well sought and hard to find. they where on vegas and monzas. i've got a monza spider wheel just like it, where yours has the bow tie mine has a spider.

That looks great and at a great price. I've never seen one in saddle.

Re: Different steering wheel

Looks good, matches the interior, and makes it more comfortable to drive. Sounds win-win-win to me.
