XM Radio
Does anyone use an xm radio here? I've got one I took out of my F*&d truck a couple of years ago, and I'm trying to figure out if I should keep it.

Re: XM Radio
I have one in my DD, and love it.
Since where I live, the FM radio sucks for reception and programing.

Re: XM Radio
I have XM. All I listen to is Blues and I can't get near enough of it on terrestrial radio. That being said, the FM airways are so saturated in the Salt Lake valley I can't find a clear channel for the XM trasmitter type in my truck to work. So the only time I listen to something else is the 2 or 3 hours a week I'm down in the valley.

Re: XM Radio
what model do you have. may be worth keeping may not be. i run XM in all of my vehicles and have it on internet too. (office stereo) that being said....not all receivers are worth anything. is it a component for a head unit or is it a portable XM unit?

Re: XM Radio
I have it in all my cars and trucks. In my 69 and 72 I mounted the antenae on top of the cab in the rear. I drilled a tiny hole for the antenae wire. XM is awesome, you can listen to what ever music you like without ever having to hear the slightest hint of rap! (Unless you like rap and I can't imagine that because people who own these trucks are more intelligent than those who think rap is music)

Re: XM Radio
Anyone know the best deal for a new subscription? I remember seeing a $77/year special a while ago but can't find it now.

Re: XM Radio
I pay $30 a month for four receivers. They were going to charge me more but I had been with xm for six years and told them I would cancel if they raised my rates, they immediately withdrew the price hike and took $9 off my bill each month. That was before they merged with Sirrius so I don't know if it would work now.

Re: XM Radio
Sorry for hijacking the thread but it would seem to go along with the topic.
Seems like a good deal, wonder what the price jumps to after 6 months.

Re: XM Radio
I just picked up a '13 Escape that came with 6 free months of Sirius/XM. I'm in love. (Both with the radio and the car).
FWIW, the dealer said when your 6 months is up, deal hard with them. One of his customers got 'em down to $3/month.

Re: XM Radio
Well I guess I'm the odd ball here. I have Sirrus and have had for many years but I bought a lifetime subscription for $500. Went from coast to coast twice and never had any problems on my HD.

Re: XM Radio
I'm currently at about $15 a month for mine (they just auto renewed it GAH!), but usually I argue with them and only end up paying about $8

I took this offer about six months ago. It's due to expire in a couple of weeks. At the time they said it would got to about $30 per month after the initial six months. Going to have to give them a call to negotiate a new deal.

As far as those who would not pay for radio-I do not understand the logic. I imagine you pay for TV and movies and going to concerts; in other words, you pay for entertainment all the time without batting an eye. I like to think of it as paying to not have to listen to commercials, and it's a bargin. (of course, there are plenty of XM commercials) And then there are many people who say that they would never steal a dime, but have thousands of songs in their i pods stolen from the artists who created them.
