3 speed allison?

Ok I'm just confused when I went to the auto parts store to get a tranny filter with gasket, I told them my 67 c10 and they pulled up two automatic transmissions, the th 400 and an Allison three speed which I don't know to much about. Thought it was a fancy name for the th 350 but when he pulled out the gasket it was square but with a small square notch cut out instead of the slant cut the th 350 has. I got the right gasket when I just asked for a different year but I want to know more about this 3 speed Allison transmission. I haven't herd to much about it and I wonder if anyone knows info about it

Re: 3 speed allison?

There wasn't an Allison option for these trucks. Maybe there was for the medium duty versions, as they had Allisons later years for sure, but not in pick ups or anything 1 ton or smaller, until 2001 w/ Alison 1000

Re: 3 speed allison?

Sounds like a typical application screwup.
The only Allison I can think of for 67 is a six-speed in 50-70 series trucks. The pan shape does sound like a two-speed Powerglide though.

Re: 3 speed allison?

The parts person wasn't looking at 10-30 applications.

Re: 3 speed allison?

It was amusing cause he typed it in his computer and this wad at advance auto parts and autozone and it pulled it up and I was looking at him and just thinking how screwed up their data bases are... It had a pattern that looked like the powerglide but it specified 3 speed Allison. Funny thing I forgot to mention was there was also another tranny listed and it was the powrtglide so it seems like their info is all messed up
