Easy way to bypass ignition switch??
So here a few weeks ago when i had the chance to breathe and went to start the truck. She cranked but sounded like it was skipping teeth on the flywheel or something of that nature because it would crank and scratch a bit. I got under and the flywheel i fine. I thought maybe it was the starter so i pulled it off and had it tested. Tested fine so i reinstalled it. Battery was low so i used a jumper pack but it wouldnt crank. Just dead. So i checked my wiring and i had juice. I took the ignition switch out and found a loose purple or pinkish wire that wasnt connected. The plastic that holds it in had wore out. So i stuck it back on the terminal and got the truck to fire. Well here last week i went to move the truck and it was flat dead. It was getting juice. I checked the wire and it was fine. Im thinking my ignition switch has gone out. So i was wanting to see what others thought of the problem and also what would be the easiest was to bypass the ignition switch with some toggle/ push button switches and how would i wire that. Any help or input is appreciated

Re: Easy way to bypass ignition switch??
What would be easier than just replacing the ignition switch?

Re: Easy way to bypass ignition switch??
Was it a cold start? Or did you start it after you had driven it awhile?

Re: Easy way to bypass ignition switch??
RFID push button start like late model luxury cars use.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=5315496 I guess if you were real cheap a good momentary toggle and some heavy wire and a relay would get it done. Think Nascar starter switch.

Follow the link 67c10rustbuket posted! I just read it, that's pretty slick. But make sure you buy the RFID module with it, don't just put a button in for people to steal your truck.

Re: Easy way to bypass ignition switch??
Summit and Jegs also sell a plain old push button start dirt cheap but there is no security device in those.

Re: Easy way to bypass ignition switch??
Im looking at having a series of switches, one hidden. That way unless you know which ones to flip you arent gonna start it.

Re: Easy way to bypass ignition switch??
Just hide a toggle switch somewhere and start it with a pliers at the solenoid. lol We have a KW like that. One of those quick fixes that doesn't ever get redone.

Re: Easy way to bypass ignition switch??
Run a hot wire to the coil and jump the starter solenoid...
