Rear end width

I've got a '72 C10 1/2T with a 12 bolt non-posi rear end with 3.73 gears. Is there someplace that I can find the exact rear end width dimension from the wheel mounting face on the drum to the opposite wheel mounting face? I need an accurate reference and I haven't been able to find that dimension. Any help?

Re: Rear end width

not sure on mounting face to face. but I can tell you most people measure from backing plate to backing plate. the 70 and earlier rears are like 1/2" narrower. if you call moser they could probably tell you because I ordered my axles from them and they already had the specs!

Re: Rear end width

Maybe try a straight edge and a tape measure?
Thats what I would do.

Almost forgot, remove the wheels first.

Re: Rear end width

Jack up the rear, remove wheels, drop a weighted string from each WMS to the floor, mark and measure.

Both of these are the best way to know exactly what you have. I did a search on the forum and this is what it showed:
67 & 68 are 60"
69 & 70 are 62"
71 to 87 are 63.5"
88 to 98 are 65"
These are approximate but should help after checking yours....Jim
