Wow, I had to go back and look I didn't even notice. For a nut and bolt resto it has wrong steering wheel and it didn't come with rallys either. Sure is a nice truck though, nice options

Nice looking truck. Its not completely correct. Has obvious additions and improbable options. Without a lot of documentation it would be impossible to tell how original it is. If this is something in your price range then get on a plane and take a look at it. If originality is important then hire an expert to evaluate the truck. Its at a pricey dealer in a pricey area that as often as not has a Lambo or a Ferrari on prominent display overlooking the freeway.

BTW The VIN comes back as a Chevrolet 4wd 1/2 ton 1972 Suburban

I just had them email a photo of the VIN to me because I assumed they fat-fingered the VIN. It looks 100% original but does have a "6" where a truck would have a "4". I can't explain this one. Someone would almost have to carefully cut a section of door jamb out and weld it into the truck. The rivets look perfectly authentic. I don't believe in factory VIN mistakes!!

Re: Ebay/California Help

Well how about this? 72 K10 Suburban w/aux seats had a max GVW of 6800 lb vs the K10 pickup's max of 6000 lb. The picture quality is such that it is hard to tell but I am not seeing a masking line or build up around the plate. Those rivets were not hard to find and that registration card is from 2005 when they were much easier.

Re: Ebay/California Help

Here are some GVW chart clips for 72 pickup, Blazer and Suburban.
Note the as built and the max GVW numbers match the Suburban chart.
Like to see:
frame numbers
shipper
invoice
sales contract
POP
broadcast/build sheet (has anyone actually seen a Flint build sheet?)
A period registration card showing that VIN as a pickup body would help too.

Thanks for the offer to look at this truck. My interest level went to ZERO when I saw the VIN tag. To me, it's a very expensive parts truck!

BTW, I noticed the lower right corner of the tag is bent/kinked. Looks like it's been "manipulated".

Dan, good eye, I went back and looked and you're right. It's bent....suspicious to say the least

Re: Ebay/California Help

I don't think it's all OE but someone has dumped a bucket of money putting this together. I don't think i could put a truck together to match that one for 10k.

Re: Ebay/California Help

So based on the GVW chart no K10 pickup could have a GVW of 6800lb. Any pics of the SPID or door VIN decals. Seems odd and extremely unlikely that a K10 Suburban VIN would get assigned on a K10 Cheyenne Super especially since there was never a Cheyenne Super available to the Suburbans. Very beautiful truck though.

Re: Ebay/California Help

I agree its a beautiful truck. If I had a frame off done I'd postva pic of the Spid and also mention if I changed anything from stock, like thecsteering wheel. That serial # thing makes very suspicious.

Re: Ebay/California Help

This dealer is a high end broker. I worked at a dealership across the freeway for 5 years or so, before they built this place.
