Thumbs up 71 Cheyenne SWB

Hello everyone. Newbie here. Never done the forum thing before so I apologize ahead of time for any wrong doings. I just recently purchased my 71. Since I was a wee little lad I have always wanted a 71 short. Finally found one. After doing some online research I stumbled upon this amazing site which has answered many questions already. When I purchased the truck I was fairly impulsive and didnt check to make sure all the numbers matched. I didnt even know where to look. This site showed me exactly where and what to look for. I checked all the locations. Glove box, driver door, frame rail in engine compartment and frame rail under cab. All matched. Man I was relieved. Anyway thanks chevytrucks for this informative site. I will be using it often. I have many plans for the near future and will continue to post updates. Thanks.

3 on the tree Cheyenne with air!....gotta be kinda rare?!?!? Mine (72) is a factory Cheyenne that was originally a 3 on the tree truck with air as well and I always thought it was a odd combo. Welcome to the site......nice truck.

That's exactly what I was checking out too. It's gotta be rare for sure.

Awesome truck, and Welcome to the site

Re: 71 Cheyenne SWB

Very unusual combo, for sure. If it wasn't this truck, I saw its twin at an Oklahoma auction a year or so ago, and then saw it on ebay shortly after out of Texas.

Nice to see it found a good home.

Re: 71 Cheyenne SWB

That is my favorite color combo for these trucks, nice find. My '72 Cheyenne SWB stepside was 6 cyl. 4 spd., low option truck with Special Paint [silver]. You could get any truck you wanted back then

Is it as hard to drive a 3 on the Tree as a Stick shift

It's the same principle, but I wouldn't wanna race with a 3OTT...lol. I actually enjoy it myself. A friend was selling a '67 short step w/ 6cyl, 3spd, but I missed the deal by a day. I asked to drive it before the buyer picked it up. It had been about 25 years since I shifted a 3 speed, but it brought back memories of my Dad teaching me. I hate I missed the sell, but had a blast driving that old truck that day.
