Quick ? about a leaning truck
Last summer I lowered my 85 swb with 2" drop springs and 2" spindles and a flip kit in the rear. After it was done the infamous lean became noticeable. It leans almost an inch lower on the drivers side and from my educated guess its due to sagging leaf springs on that side. I've heard people say that you can swap the springs over from the other side. Would that fix it or would that make it lean to the passenger side?
Another question: If I buy new leaf springs for it is there specifics I need to be aware of? If I remember correctly there are two different lengths aren't there? Mine has 5 leafs so I should be good if I just by new ones if 5 leafs right? Last edited by russellh575; 04-19-2013 at 02:34 PM. |

Re: Quick ? about a leaning truck
i'm unsure what causes the lean, but i've noticed mine leans considerable worse on that side when the gas tank is full.

Re: Quick ? about a leaning truck
Fixes mine every time.
Mine has new springs on the rear and still has the lean but I plan on doing a burban tank swap so that will fix it

Re: Quick ? about a leaning truck
One thing that was recommended to me, but I have not done yet is to take the truck to a spring shop. Tell them what you want the ride height to be and they'll take care of the rest. They have machines that can properly change the shape of the leafs. Something to consider.

I have to wait till I do the engine swap to try that, the current boat anchor that's in it doesn't accelerate very quick. Quote:

Re: Quick ? about a leaning truck
Mine only leans to the driver side when I'm sitting in it, but it's still annoying. I think the driver side gas tank has a lot to do with it.
