lowering my 78
i wanna drop her down some. my rear leafs are sagging and the front springs have the spring helpers from the PO so i need to purchase everything new....
Im thinking right now i just want to do stock Leafs and a flip kit. if i do that do i HAVE to notch the frame? What springs should i run upfront to make her level? im sitting on a set of 15s with soon to have 255 or 275 tires on it but would like to jump up to a 18 when money gets a little better. What do you all recommend for shocks? its my daily driver right now so i would like to have it a good rider but i dont need anything super amazing. Money is an issue like as with anybody else is. but i will save up for a little if i have to for better quality but if i start pushing the limits i might as well bag it, so im really trying to find a good moderate suspension that wont kill my bank but wont kill my back on the road. Any suggestions would be a huge help or link me to a threa already covering this please |

Re: lowering my 78
Do a 4/6 drop with a flip kit.
3" drop spindles and 1" drop springs.

Re: lowering my 78
c-notch will depend on rear leaf springs.
I always say no,... but then I will find out that someone had pulled a few leafs from the spring pack and will definitely need a c-notch and tell me I am wrong. Do the flip kit and then verify for your self if you need a notch. Some leaf packs have 5 leaves, some have 7. There are 52" and 56" leaf springs. You should be able to use standard shocks with a 1" drop spring and a flip kit with shock extensions. Use Belltech or Western Chassis, or McGaughy's.

Re: lowering my 78
awesome! thanks for the help. I plan on getting new leafs in the rear for the simple fact that my truck has a major lean and is not equal on any corner.

Re: lowering my 78
so instead of starting a new thread i will just resurect this one.... i bought a set of brackets to flip the leafs to under my axle on the 78. now i dont have the cash for spindles or lowering springs or anything in the front. how many coils should i cut to level it out. i havent put the bed back on becuase i want to wire brush the frame and all and paint it and rubber coat the bottom of the bed before i re-install it. i was hoping to figure out and have it level before i put the bed back on..... any help?
