Header fitment problem BBC
So I went to go put my headers on my BB, and the passenger side went on no problem. I went to put the drivers side in, and the collector hits the frame so badly that I would need to cut at LEAST an inch out of it to make it work. I am using the Hooker 2455's with 2" primary and 3 1/2" collector. On the passenger side, I have about 1 1/2" clearance from the frame. I can't figure it out how it could be so off? I have my transmission mounted to an aftermarket (POL) crossmember. I say that as I wonder if maybe the engine isn't straight??? I had to pull the tailshaft towards the passenger side to mount the transmission to the x-member... Anybody else ever have this problem? Should I unbolt the crossmember and pull the tailshaft over to get the header on, and then go from there? I'd hate to take much out of the frame.... It is right behind the cab mount, and I did have to cut the emergency brake cable bracket off already to try to get them to fit. Please advise!!!

This doesn't answer your question but I have 2455's with stock tranny mount, no issues with the collectors on either side. I did have to manipulate a primary tube and motor mount on the drivers side.

I did a little hammering on the primary to clear the motor mount on the driver side as well. Could you post pics of both sides at the collectors? Or even give me a measurement from the flange to the frame on each side? Everything seems to be straight, but maybe I'll have to try it with the old crossmember to be sure??

If I remember correctly these headers are for Chevelles. It's not a bad product for the price. My intent was to use Sanderson's but the budget didn't allow it at the time, eventually it will have Sanderson's. There are a few guys on here running 2455's with minimal issues. Hooker got back to me and enlightened me to the fact that the 2455 headers are not made for my application.... Geez, thanks for letting me know... I had nooooo idea... Jebus....

hookers 2455s are notorious for fitment problems i have hedmanns on my truck and had to nibble about 1/4" out of the passenger side frame on my truck

Well I actually have some good news... I had a friend come help me today, as I had planned to get a bunch of measurements to have my headers modified to fit. It turns out the header was hitting the motor mount, and I could not see it while trying to do it myself... 3/8" ground out of the mount and I was ecstatic!! So happy it ended up working out. I now have 1 1/4" clearance on the driver side, and 1 5/8 on the passenger side.

I have to bring this old thread back. I'm installing some 2455 hookers on my 78 C30 and just looking for some pics of where you guys had to cut on the drivers side mounts. I can tell it's the mount but trying to put it on from the bottom by myself I can't really tell what area of the mount is hitting.
Also did any of you guys have to remove what looks like to me a heat shield probably for the stock manifolds. Any help would be appreciated Slim
