priming question
okay so here is the deal, id like to prime a few parts of my truck just to have them ready for paint for later, id be priming them and storing them (the truck wont be in the weather nor will it even leave the shop) what im wondering is if this is okay, ive heard that you cant let primer sit for any longer then 48 hours before top coating, or something along those lines. im just wondering if it is okay to prime and store a few parts before painting
thanks !!

Re: priming question
You can use epoxy primer and store for a long time in the shop; just scuff and shoot another epoxy coat when ready.
Some primers like red oxide do not protect against rust; you can store primed panel w/ a bare metal scrap piece. If bare metal looks ok then primed panel may be ok. High build 2k primer may protect against rust better than red oxide. |

Re: priming question
Almost all of my panels that I have ready on the three trucks that I am doing at one time[ crazy I know] but when the body work is all done it is just a matter of putting them together one right behind another, I've done this with some wrecks that I build, lots of work but once done you really have a lot of trucks all of the sudden. But what I was saying is I am doing all of my panels and have them inside and have them in high build and they are holding up really well they will just need a scuff and re-shoot then and color spray on top of that once the time come[if it comes]
