I want your opinion! Fender flares or no?
I'm debating whether or not to buy some fender flares for my k10. I already have trimmed my fenders a little for tire clearance, but nothing very noticeable. I kind of like the look of them, but at the same time i'm uncertain if i would like them on my truck. It would be nice to cover the tires a little more and protect my new paint, but it's not a huge deal. If i were to get some i'd go with the Bushwacker style (I included a few pics of squares w/ flares)

IF you do, find the ones with the correct recess for the front marker lamps. IMHO it looks bad when the front marker lamp is partially obscured.
For example, DirtyLarry's new flares, as opposed to old ones.

Re: I want your opinion! Fender flares or no?
you thinking of cut-out's or bolt on's? personally i like them, makes a 4by look like a 4by ( i got cut-outs on mine). if you go with cut-outs, your current tires will probably look smallish, there like having an extra 3" lift, but then you got an excuse to get bigger tires!

Re: I want your opinion! Fender flares or no?
I have Bushwacker cutouts on my 84 chevy. I immediately regretted cutting my perfect fenders. But it does look cool.
SO, for my 85 gmc, I got the bolt on fender flares. Not bushwacker though. I like these better. |

Re: I want your opinion! Fender flares or no?
My tires do stick out a bit. Enough to put some chips in my fresh paint already!

I would get them but remember that trees love to steel them if you wheel it

Re: I want your opinion! Fender flares or no?
Luckily where i'm at there's not a whole lot of trees! I've just got sage brush to deal with. That stuffs pretty much harmless though. I'm starting to like the idea of the bushwacker cutouts. I dont care a whole lot about my fenders, they're already cut anyway. Now...should i leave them black or paint them to match? Im putting more paint on the truck here in a month or so and will probably do the fenders then.

Re: I want your opinion! Fender flares or no?
I didn't think I would like them, but the trucks in these pictures look good. They actually look better on these SQUAREBODIES than the newer trucks

Re: I want your opinion! Fender flares or no?
DO IT! your 4by looks naked without them, your tires probably want a lttle more breathing room too. when i paint my truck, i'm doing the rockers & flares with line-x, should eliminate rock chips.
even 38.5 swamps look small with cut-outs. if the wife did'nt bi**h so much, i'd throw 42's back on it to better fill out the wheelwells |
