Can anyone help with advice on my sb fleet? LMC sells the side moulding kit for $349.00 (made in China?) and Mar-K sells it for $482.00 made in the USA. It is such a big difference that I gotta go with the LMC but the worry is that it might be made in China and not fit correctly. Thanks

yes Mar-K, I've seen both and the Mar-K is what I'll be using on our beat up truck!

Jason you seem to be the only one that has seen both. Is the difference that one is much thicker metal? Thanks

I talked to a guy at an auto show and he indicated that installing the "import" trim was so tricky because he thought he was going to bend/twist it just by installing it because it was so thin.

I bought Mar K trim and I've had it off and back on a couple of times due to some paint issues. No problem what so ever......

(Plus the clips are included)

It comes down to your choice, I thought it was better to support our country. I never had good luck with anything from LMC or China. I can't say one is better than the other though in the side moulding but what I received from Mar-K sure looks good here is a few pic's of it...Vernski

Vernski, Manoman that is one beautiful truck! Thanks for the advice all it is appreciated. I will check the origin of the LMC stuff. I wish I could see if it is thinner etc.

Mar-K trim hands down. You get what you pay for.

Don't have any one mine, but met a guy at cruise night last year that bought the china brand and regretted it by the time he installed it. He advised me that there are two grades of trim and to spend the money on the Mar K trim. Firm believer in you get what you pay for, and your going to clean and polish this too many times not to be happy with it.

Take it from Vern, get the better stuff. Just save up for another month and pay the extra 100 bucks. I have had the pleasure of seeing Verns truck in person and it is better than it looks on here!

Is there any doubt the LMC stuff will be foreign made?

Think of it as an investment and only do it once. If you go cheap and don't like it, then you're doing it twice.

Some patience may score you some OEM pieces that could comprise a full set, then polish and install.

Don't want to thread jack, but I have looked on the boards and not found the answer. I found all the trim for my truck at a junkyardEXCEPT for both doors. First, how do I get it off where it's held by clips? Second, can I buy new door pieces and polish the old somehow and they will match? Thanks in advance.

I'm with you earl84. I can't find any illustrations either. Was going to post this question in a new post but since you brought it up..... Can anyone show how to remove/install all the side trim? What are the different style clips and how do you remove/install them? Can you access them all?

I got my side molding for my 66 from Brother's. It fit great!!!

Was the Brother's molding pretty stiff and strong?. Can you tell if it was imported? It is less than Mar K but more than LMC. Thanks

I'm not sure where it was made, but it seems strong. It came packaged well as is everything I've ordered from Brother's so far and it fit well. I also ordered a new chrome grille and I was well satisfied with the quality and fit. Wish I could post a pic, but I've been unsuccessful with getting one to download!

I found this in my archives on moulding clips, also there is a page or two in the factory assembly manual on the location of the holes if yours has no moulding...Vernski

Mar-K is a board vendor and offer discounts fairly often in the vendor section. If you wait I think you can get a better price. I bought a set from Mar-K a few years ago. I had gone to thier site just to check the price for someone else and when I was leaving the site it offered me a price I couldn't refuse so I bought them even though I'm not even close to needing them yet.

MAR-K all the way. Just finished up my install (LWB Fleet) Great quality and good fitting. They also look so much better then the import. 2bits!

So, it looks like most of the clips are just pushed through holes in the sides and to remove them, you access the backside and squeeze the clips and push back out, is that correct? I know that there are some that have nuts on the backside as well. ( I don't look forward to laying on the ground in a junkyard near water removing these, could be snakes, and man I hate snakes.)
And how about polishing old stuff to match new stuff? I am pretty sure that the molding is anodized and may not polish well, is that correct?
