Fuel level gauge level

Yesterday I pulled my 71 out and looked down and noticed that my fuel gauge said i had 1/4 tank. i had 3/4 the night before. started driving and the gauge went back to 3/4. Stoped and turned off the truck and the gauge started going back down to 1/4, started the truck drove a few blocks and the gauge came back up to 3/4. All connections look good and the ground has 0 Ohms (good ground) any ideas? It did this three times yesterday.

Re: Fuel level gauge level

go ahead and clean all the connection , and clean the ground good, then see if it does it, it could be the sending unit or gas gauge resister in the back of the gauge, but clean everything up first and see how that works...

also the wire to the tank runs along the left door floor board look to see if the wire is still good...
