Donut Fitment for '66?
Does anyone know what later model (if any) donut type spare would fit a '66 w/ front disc brakes? I'm putting a fuel tank under the bed and don't really want the spare in the bed. Was thinking of fabbing up a bracket to put it behind the seat in the cab...

If it's five bolt, the 91-96 Caprice ones will work. Any full size RWD Cadillac, too. Lots of 80s full size GM cars also, many were dual 5x5 and 5x4.75 bolt pattern.

The factory in bed carriers actually dont take up much space, and it'd be easy to modify a floor well if you wanted it even lower

Re: Donut Fitment for '66?
colorados come with a donut spare that will fit right on, the centerbore is the right size and the bolt pattern is the same.
edit: the 6 lug spare in that link above is from a mazda b2000/b2200, it also has the big centerbore.

Re: Donut Fitment for '66?
Make sure that you don't put a donut in the rear if you have posi. Put the donut on the front, and swap a good front to the rear. Different rear tire heights will burn out a posi quickly.

Re: Donut Fitment for '66?
Cool, didn't think of that. I don't think mine is posi, so I should be good.

Re: Donut Fitment for '66?
I believe even an open diff (non-posi) will suffer from greatly different rear tire sizes and having to differentiate for too far a drive. It's the main reason for the warning on the spare.
