Re: lowering the seat in a 87
From what I have seen so far in working on installing my H2 middle seat in my truck is that the stock bench really can not be lowered. Unless you go through the trouble of cutting and modding the springs to sit lower in the frame.
You could use a H2 middle seat like me, and when you weld the brackets to the seat sliders you can get an easy 2 inch drop on it. Or if your really willing to take the mods the next level. You can remove your side saddle tanks, and drop the floor pans under the seat. Then the amount of drop is up to you at that point. |

88-98 chevy truck seats are lower and thinner. They can be easily modified to fit the original seat mounts.

Re: lowering the seat in a 87
I have a '86 4 wheel drive ,4 speed. I got a 60/40 bench with the center console out of a '96. Ihad to cut about 2 1/4 " 'sout of the bottom frame work to lower the seats enough for my liking. I didnot do anything to the slider assembly.I used the front mounting holes and welded tabs for the rear mounting. Works good for me.
