Radio delete plate
Does anyone know if the '72's came with a radio delete plate? Mine has the radio cutout and a place for a radio delete plate but no plate. If radio delete plates were used, where can I scrounge one? Thanks

Re: Radio delete plate
Just did a similar question the other day.
The pickups came standard with the radio cut out and a cover plate. If the truck does not have a radio on the SPID it was not built with one. However it may have had a factory radio kit installed at some point. This could have been done buy the dealer as it was very common. The kit was an over the counter accessory that could be bought by anyone. But many trucks have also had a radio installed that was a new aftermarket or used takeout from anywhere. The antenna hole location is often a giveaway. Plates and the two attachmnet clips are often found on the parts board if you want to block the hole off.

Re: Radio delete plate
My SPID should be noted for its brevity . . . it has a model number, a paint number, a instrument number, and that is IT! I think I have everyone beat for BONE STOCK! I'm going to get a new SPID made when the truck is painted, but I'm gonna pay by the LETTER. Should be cheap, eh?
Anyway, I'm in search of that radio delete plate. |

Re: Radio delete plate
I had a 72 short step that came with the delete plate. Sold the truck but still got the plate and one of the attaching hooks for it.

Re: Radio delete plate
Here is a reference picture of a plate and clips.
Rememer there are board rules to consider. So if its free or free plus the ride you should be OK otherwise you might get a nastygram.
