vent window rebuild
I installed a fairchild vent window kit with less than satisfactory results. Though the gasket fit well and seems to have some quality the division bar is a different story. It was way thicker than the oem division bar I removed and as a result the wing window won't shut.
Has anyone purchased the divsion bars that steele rubber sell. They're expensive and I don't want to buy with the same results as the fairchild bars. I might be forced to reinstall the stock ones. Anyones input with similar problems would be appriciated. |

Re: vent window rebuild
Same with LMC div bar - thick. After several weeks shut and a bit of disc brake greese things are workin a bit better but prolly still gonna have ta carve a bevel to ease the vent windows closed w/ havin to get out of the truck and use both hands.

Re: vent window rebuild
lmc has kit ,#6 that has division bar felt ,fit's in your original bar , with glass run channel, and window seal. Since you got kit already, don't know if you can buy d bar felt separate. Remove old felt and install felt fit's perfect, i siliconed mine in. 1964 1966 kit is # 38-5995

Re: vent window rebuild
Thanks for your input 1966shortwide but it's actually the wing window I'm referring to, the one that pivots. The seal that atatches to the back side of the run glass channel is to thick and doesn't allow the vent glass to shut completely.

Re: vent window rebuild
AND this is why I'm saving up to buy the all in one pre-made replacements. I just don't have what it takes to rebuild mine. I not going to use mine.

Re: vent window rebuild
Agreed... on the LMC Kit, The felts and fuzzies and window channel for the doors are about perfect. The arched rubber gasket for the vent window is fine too. Its the vertical rubber strip/division bar that gets riveted on to the vertical section of the vent window that is too thick and causes the problems.

Re: vent window rebuild
oh, i did not read correctly, dah, dah, ,anyway i've not replaced mine yet so don't know on that part , is the seal visibly thicker than the old one ,laid side by side . like sharps 40 said all other seals and component's are perfect.
