What are the best shocks that I can get (that don't cost some extreme price) for the 72. Wanting to do some of these things this summer while its nice, have some time, and have the extra money.

I put 73 and up Edelbrock IAS shocks for the 3/4 ton 4x4 on my 71 3/4 ton 4x4 there is absolutely no comparison~! I have ridden in many trucks and none ride like the IAS Edelbrock set up. To install the rear shocks we did some small modifications to the upper mounts to allow the shock eye to fit. I think we cut off one side and moved it about a 1/4". Worth every penny. Would not change them for any other shock!!!!!!!

Are you dropping it? I used dostech slammerz on my 72' 2wd 4/6 drop. They work good but my truck didn't ride how I wanted to until I did air bags in the rear.

Basically wanting to keep everything the way it is. Just smooth out the ride some.

I just put Rancho 5000 all the way aroun on my 96 2wd. It was my first time using them and I was so impressed I will be putting a set on my 70. Got mine through Summit. Think they were around $30 each.

Get anything that is gas shock. I have some cheap ones for Auto Zone and they ride just fine. They give a stiffer ride than the oil dampining kind. Here is some advice. Don't spend a mint on shocks unless you want to have something to brag about to your friends and if ride quality is the most important feature on your truck. Nobody will care if you have Edlebrock shocks but you.

I believe I will go for KYB Gas-A-Just from Summit. They are 29.95 each which is cheaper than they are elsewhere and KYB seems to be pretty well liked. Sound good...

KYB's have always come highly recommended, and that's what Early Classic sells with their kits these days...I got my ECE kit back when they were still selling Belltech Nitrodrops. They're not bad, but they don't do much shock-absorbing in the back...

Aside from some rather extreme harshness over speedbumps and really nasty roads, I love the way it handles.

I used a monroe gas shock, didn't like the yellow so I sprayed them to match the truck, they were a good cheap shock

i paid 10.99 for my monroe gas shocks at schucks ... i replaced the front ...helped out handling and ride alot .... i've got air shocks inthe back and i cant decide wether to stick with them or replace them with a regular gas shock ... any thought ..i dont haul stuff often ...

i have always bought the monroe gas magnums for all my cars and trucks. i like the wya they ride.
the oil shocks of anykind just plain suck.

I have recieved the KYBs and they are all on and haved helped out a lot. No more bouncing. The bumps dont seem to hit as hard (they dont vibrate the steering wheel when you hit them no more... at least it seems like its different, and the truck doesnt want to slide going uphill on the gravel.. starting out.
I am satisfied both with the KYB Gas-A-Justs and Summit
