71 front crossmemer on 60 frame ??
I have a 60 frame with a 71 front crossmember installed with disk brakes, 3" drop springs and 2.5 drop spindles. In the rear I have 5" drop springs. I was test fitting the bed today and it has a HUGE rake, which I dislike very much.
Does swapping out the 71 crossmember lower the truck any without the use of lowering items? also with this setup my steering setup will not work correctly unless we raise the front about 3". I have all new POL spindles, correct year for x-member tie-rods and both 60 and 71up pitman arms. Am I doing something wrong? I know ive seen trucks on the forums here that have the same lowering #'s I do and look great. -nick |

I don't know much about the front ends of the 60-62 trucks.
I do know the 63-87 trucks pretty well. Why did you buy 60-62 spindles if you are using a 71 crossmember? Can you use the 71-72 steering linkage? What a-arms are you using? You are going to need at least a 2" lowering block in the back to get the rear down some more.

Re: 71 front crossmemer on 60 frame ??
I hqve the correct year front spindles for the 71 x member. I also using the stock 71 a arms and the 71 steering linkage. I have both 60 and 71pitman and idler arms. I think my issue is with the idler arm. I still have the stock 60 on the frame. Im going to hqve to install the 71 unit and go from there
