Rear Shocks
I am wondering what year shocks i have on the rear. It doesn't seem to be stock 62 rear hence the 12 bolt and shock locations.

Re: Rear Shocks
Looks like factory shock placement to me. Which could still work with a rear-end swap.
They are fairly long and I was just asking N@P@ for a reference and there was no listing for 1962. best of luck - rg |

Re: Rear Shocks
I have seen factory literature of a 62 chassis and it showed shocks infront of rear and running at an angle towards the center of truck.

Re: Rear Shocks
To my eye, it looks like the lower shock brackets are swapped from left side to right side, and turned 180 degrees so they are facing rearward. The shocks should be ahead of the rear axle and mount on a forward angle toward the front of the truck.
Greg.

Re: Rear Shocks
I thought the same as you on original factory placement of the shocks. Now here the Question how is the best way to measure the shocks to find replacements.

Re: Rear Shocks
That looks right. Measure ride height eye to eye. Normally you would add 3" up and minus 3" down. So a ride height of 17" would be an extended length of around 20" and a collapsed 14". Factor in if you want bags you want an x amount of collapse and y amount droop. Be realistic on how much you cycle the suspension. A 6" stroke is fine for stock. Ask a local shop if in doubt.

Re: Rear Shocks
It looks like factory '62 lower shock brackets with '65 or newer 12 bolt rear. I have exact same set up on my '60 & '61. Try Gabriel part number 82086.
