Nevada Title info on rolling chassis

Hey guys. I need some help on title info, particularly Nevada if available but any general info is appreciated. A friend showed me a CL ad for a rolling chassis with a cab (i think) for $150, don't need many parts but how can I pass this up? I'm assuming it's no title but will know for sure when I call later. How would this work if I use the cab or frame on another truck? What VIN is official, the cab or frame? What if later during a VIN inspection they see the frame and cab don't match?

Every Vin I have had checked for vehicle transfer in Nevada has gone off the cab so far. So if you have good title for the cab vin you should be alright. Might be different if you trying to get a title for an un titled vehicle

Turns out it was just the chassis no cab, but he does have the Title and said he is asking $700 for both, but didn't sound too firm on the price for think he would take about $500.

Re: Nevada Title info on rolling chassis

Titling can get interesting. My truck is a short K-10 frame with a LWB C-10 cab, and the cab carries the registration. Never had a problem keeping it registered (in Cal,) but if it ever had to be inspected, it might cause some headache. My official line is that it's a C-10 converted to 4wd, but still a C-10. In reality of course, it's a K-10 with a C cab.

$500 or less sounds like a smokin' deal, depending on what's included with it.

Yeah, can get tricky, even though I doubt the VIN inspectors know/care that a truck frame has the VIN stamped on it. $500 would be a good deal. If I had the space/time/money I would get it. Might make a post though si someone here can take it.

Isn't that too short to be a C-20? Maybe just the photo angle?

Yes... It does look like a SWB... Could be wrong but don't the LWB's have 3 crossmembers in the rear?

Re: Nevada Title info on rolling chassis

The title goes with the cab because the VIN plate is on the door jam with 4 rosette rivets. My experience with my 67 Chevelle was they physically inspect the VIN plate because the title was out of state. If it alreay has a NV title, you should not need a physical inspection.

On a side note, I wouldnt want to be caught holding a VIN plate with a paper title that wasnt attached to a cab....
