Looks like a factory lightweight racing suburban.

Re: My new Suburban has a little rust

Well, there's a good bit salvageable there yet... auto column, hazard switch, glass (windshield looked good), lift gate hardware (didn't see if the gate was rusted), rear bumper looks very good, and of course the seats.

Is that wood in the quarter panel around the wheel housing??

Re: My new Suburban has a little rust

Thanks for posting your burb Jon. I have always wanted to show West Coast people what RUST is. Watching the TV shows from out there it is frustrating to see what West Coast people throw away because it's too "rusty"
Here in the Midwest we would like to have all the West Coast castaways.

Re: My new Suburban has a little rust

Truck is a Janesville built truck. Lived its life in Madison Wi. With 5 months of winter here they use salt way to much in my opinion. This truck had to of been some ones daily driver. Yes that's WOOD in the rear quarters with sheetmetal screws holding the outer body together. Even its rotted !

Re: My new Suburban has a little rust

lemmie make a wild guess here ...judging by the tinted glass, you picked it up for A/C parts? Or perhaps you just bought the custom trim, and those pieces came with a truck attached?

Re: My new Suburban has a little rust

Well, not exactly. It does have tinted glass but never had AC. It is a factory Automatic with everything still there, all linkage and crossmember except motor and trans. Has the Hazard flasher, one window side latch, nice straight rear bumper, front is decent. Nicest used 66 grille I've seen in awhile, headlight doors are nice to, Biggest reason I bought it were the seats were in surprisingly nice condition. When I got there and saw the flasher and tinted glass that was the added bonus. I will use the glass in my 66 GMC as I've been looking. Oh and the custom side trim is darn nice to plus I think it has factory seat belts.
