air system lift speed 1/2 inch vs 1/4 inch
I have a 68 c10 that currently uses 1/2 airline and 3/8 electric valves.
My problem with the 1/2 line is routing issues and the speed it lifts the back up. I know I can get flow controls to slow the rate it lifts the rear but was thinkig I could just replace the fitting and run 1/4 inch line which in turn would solve my routing/ rubbing issues as well as slow down the lift speed. My question is if I use 1/4 on all four corners will it be so slow I will hate it. Also I need check valves before my valves where is the best spot to purchase them. I believe my 3/8 air valves take a 1/2 inch fitting. Thanks in advance. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: air system lift speed 1/2 inch vs 1/4 inch
Here's a C10 with manual valves. It doesn't say, but these are usually 1/4 inch. It's pretty slow for me. 3/8th seems to be the happy medium between control and speed. That's what I'm running and wouldn't think of changing it. It sounds like you're already prepared to invest in the fittings and line. That's the route I would go.

Re: air system lift speed 1/2 inch vs 1/4 inch
Thanks for the reply. Either the lift with the 1/4 was so slow I couldnt tell from watching the video 4 times or it didn't lift up...lol.
I don't mind the speed of the front of my truck with the 1/2 lines its justthe routing thats killing me I hate using heater hose near the tight spots. The rear I replaced a 6inch section of 1/2 inch line between my bag and valve with 1/4inch and it made it just right. I most likely keep the 1/2 and drill a 3/4inch hole there my rear body mounts brackets and add some groomets and run the line threw there. Posted via Mobile Device |
