What year is this bed? Is it even Chevy?

I ran across this and am thinking about buying it. There is no tailgate to even see if it's GM. Is it? What year do you think it is? Is the bed worth much? Is it rare?

Thank you for any and all help!

It looks to be a 55-66 bed judging from the fenders and the step.

Re: What year is this bed? Is it even Chevy?

Will it fit both task force series and 60-66? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm more familiar with the bigger chevys (1 ton and up) with flat beds and such. What do you guys think I should pay (up to) for it? I'm going to go look at it Friday and I hope I can drag it home.

Yes it will fit a those trucks. Actually the bedsides are the same up to 1987 though the fenders and steps are different.

Sweet trucks guys! I am going to look at it tomorrow. I am probably going to get it. I already have a buyer lined up for the frame. Now I just need somebody to buy the bed. Will let you guys know!

Re: What year is this bed? Is it even Chevy?

I watched a gal tow a really nice looking bright red bed like that that was made into a trailer around the corner while I was stopped at a light the other day and thought that it sure would look a lot nicer on someone's truck. Sometimes a guy/gal can buy a trailer with a nice bed and swap beds and either have a trailer to use or resell and a nice bed for his/her truck.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

Yeah I've seen that a couple of times myself. Here is a pic of a Ford with a ford bed used as a trailer (sorry but I'm a carnut could care less about brand). I've also seen guys do it with Chevy trucks.

I really don't remember why that radiator is like that I was still stunned by two beautiful cars that I seen at that show (one a chevelle and the other a mopar and man they were ridiculously nice) when I took that pic. What I do remember about that f100 is the guy that owned it was really nice. He built it in his garage and done everything. Body and Paint, interior, all the fab work which included suicide doors and kept the door handles to fool people.lol It had a volare clip, and a ford 5.0 engine which I thought a was refreshing to see a ford in a ford.

I asked him if you gets offers on that bed all the time.lol He just laughed and said every time I drive it with it attached.lol

Re: What year is this bed? Is it even Chevy?

I built this one to match my Tahoe (no pic)

Started life as a '69 Datsun PU then in the mid 80's I got a Ford L.B. for free from a friend who was getting a service body. I used it and abused it till last year when I came across this new Chevy L.B. that was used as a display in a truck accessory store.

I'd been looking for a mid 50's 8' or 9' bed for years, never found one.

It also works with my SSR

Those are some cool rides! I am looking at it this evening. I know you're animals when it comes to pictures, so I will post some.

And no, that wasn't an insult. I'm a picture whore to.

I'm going with 55-59. Somewhere on the early 60's they put a light on the rear fender and there is a raised boss for it that I don't see on this bed.

Re: What year is this bed? Is it even Chevy?

The 60-66 used a slightly wider frame so the supports for the steps are almost equal in size from mounting point to the curve where the step bolts on ,the early beds are considerably wider at the cross sill .

I managed to drag her home! It's solid as can be. A few dings but nothing bad. Wood floor, nice tongue, good shape. Will post pics if you want
