Are these bucket seats the same as our year
I have a set of fairly decent shape bucket seat that came out of a 73 or 74 Chevy truck. I was thinking of using them in my 70 C10 project but I would like to recover them with the right style material. Does anyone know if the later year low backs are shaped the same to fit 70 seat covers? I know the tracks are different, I am wondering about the shaping of the foam. I don't have any original low back buckets to compare with. Thanks

Re: Are these bucket seats the same as our year
I know LMC Truck isn't an authority on info but I looked at their 73-87 catalog and they don't even show anything as far as seat kits or list anything for low back seats. I know this is kind of a different year question but did they even have low backs in those later years? Maybe these seats were not original in the truck I got them out of.

Do some site searching, you may be able to modify the frames and change the foam. If it is a driver I would probably just have covers made in the style you want.

Re: Are these bucket seats the same as our year
69-75 bucket seat frames are the same.
69-70 uses different foams and covers. 71-75 seat foams are the same, with covers changing in 73.

Re: Are these bucket seats the same as our year
LeddZepp, Good to know! So the only real difference in frames is between the buckets and the utility seats (Panel and Blazer base).

Yes, this is what I have found comparing bucket seats I have had from all the different years.

Re: Are these bucket seats the same as our year
It also seems by the aftermarket foam I have seen listed, that the foam changed every 2 years. They have 3 different part numbers one for 67-68 one for 69-70 and one for 71-72 low backs. Can that be right? If so that really makes it confusing if you got buckets and are not sure what year they came out with.

Re: Are these bucket seats the same as our year
Actually they are pretty clear. The 67-68 are the buddy buckets and hard to confuse. The later style 71-72 has a distinctly different back that changed again going into the square body years.

Re: Are these bucket seats the same as our year
Thanks for posting those pics Tim. Here is a 69-70 seat that I have to show the difference in the foam between the 71-72 seats...slightly narrower and more tapered. Keep in mind the frames are the same. 67-68 CST buddy buckets are obviously completely different. Sorry for the sideways pic, can't fix it on my iPhone
