How necessary is a p/s cooler?

I've never run one in this truck, but since putting my hydroboost brakes in, the power steering can get pretty darn hot. You can actually feel the heat off the pressure hard line from the booster to the steering gear.

I'm not familiar with heat issues on power steering systems, and mine seems to function just fine (actually over-boosted, which I need to figure out as well).

So, do I need a power steering cooler, or is the heat just a by-products of the new booster, and just a fact of life.
