Wiring Harnesses ???
I'm going to purchasing a complete wiring harness for my truck. I will need a few mods for Alt, head light relay, A/C, HEI and would also like the newer type of fuses.
I was thinking of M&H wiring, or AAW. I would like to hear from other peoples expiriences with either of these or any other companies you have used ! I want it to be closes to OEM other than the mods I need. Who do you like and dis-like ? Thanks in advance !!! Gary

Re: Wiring Harnesses ???
I used the AAW Classic Update kit and really liked it. It was straight forward and included the pigtails needed to hook up the factory stuff. It came with a few new switches as well.

Re: Wiring Harnesses ???
Thanks Jason !
Are the ends terminated or do you have to install the ends ? If so what's need for a crimping tools ? Does it have the new type of fuses ? And does it come with different ends for you choice of altinator, a/c, HEI ? Gary

Re: Wiring Harnesses ???
Just finished putting in the AAW Classic update kit as well. I would highly recommend it.
To answer your questions: *The kit comes with several different choices of connectors for different applications. I dont believe the kit includes any of the parts for A/C. *It does use the new style of fuses *As for the ends, you run the wire however you want, then cut to length and crimp on the terminal that fits into the new factory style connector. I rented the two crimpers from AAW. Costs about $50 and they are well worth it if you ask me. The only problems I had were the instructions werent very clear on how to wire it when using an MSD ignition set up. Wich was very simple once I figured it out. And you have to convert your alt to internally regulated if you havent already.

Re: Wiring Harnesses ???
As jmking9 said, the wires going to the lights, front and rear, require trimming to fit, and crimping on the correct connecters. I've been using a pair of needle nose pliers and soldering all my connections. The use of a crimper would definitely help though. I can't answer your question regarding the alternator, as I'm using a stand alone engine harness/fuse box for my LS swap.

Re: Wiring Harnesses ???
I used M&H for my engine harness, and headlite harness. Mods included, headlite relays, HEI, electric choke, and relay for my electric fan. They charge for each mod., and i was using oem connectors, so everything plugged in as it should.
Their tech guys were the best with my many, many questions, really good people to work with. Dont know if they offer the newer style fuses. Give them a call and ask, i would use them again. Nothing like having a new wiring harness for safety and looks The only thing i forgot to add was a heavier gauge wire for the headlights

Re: Wiring Harnesses ???
I have emailed them, and they do have the new style fuses. Their harnesses look nice, but to do the entire truck it's around $1,000.
I want to keep it looking as factory as possible, but with up-dated mods. I'm going to have similar mods as you ! Thanks ! Gary

Re: Wiring Harnesses ???
I get the part about wanting a factory look but for 150$ you can get an ez wiring kit with 20 circuits. New box with mini fuses and horn and fuse relays. It aslo has column plug end and a couple other connectors. Same hi grade wire painless uses labeled every 6". I love mine and it had way more than i needed. Witch means you get extra hi grade wire for future add ons. If you buy straight from them its 175$ but a seller on ebay has them for 150.
