Plugs 1,3,5,7 ok; 2,4,6,8 fouled
Just fired up the new 5.7L vortec in parents 1999 K1500.
Plugs on drivers side perfect. Plugs on passenger side progressively worse: 2=slightly discolored, 4=just starting to get black, 6=black, 8=very black. Anyone know what's going on? Does right O2 sensor logic control right bank spider injectors separately? Mouse sleeping in exhaust pipe? Fuel leaking under upper manifold? |

New plugs.
Reseated and cleaned O2 terminal. Reseated spider plug atop upper intake. Still misfires. Now throwing CEL. Any suggestions for good code reader? |

I found an intake pic posted by Twistedwrench.
If the fuel pressure regulator is leaking I could see passenger side bank fouling. |

Honestly the best thing to do for you is to put do besides cap, rotor, wires, plugs, and fuel filter. Is to remove that factory junk spider and replace it with the Borg Warner Multi-pont conversion spider kit part number 63886. The factory spiders mechanical poppets that push into the heads are junk and easily clog making the poppets stick. As well as the fuel pressure regulators are notorious for leaking fuel into the manifold however due to the design of the system it is difficult to diagnose, it is just better to replace it especially if have more than 100k or 8 years of age. These problems causes all kinds of starting, driving issues including multiple cylinder missfires and loss of power or surging. The conversion kit moves the injectors from the spider conector down to where the poppets would be and they use a small multi port injector. You will never have to worry about it again.

Re: Plugs 1,3,5,7 ok; 2,4,6,8 fouled
Thanks.
Already bought GP/Sorensen 800-1513N spider at autozone; the design has wires run to injectors at poppets. Looks identical to BWD 63886. Maybe same assembly line. Can return if recommended. The fuel pressure doesn't leak down which may eliminate pressure regulator as suspect. I think spider leg leakage is still suspect. |

They are known for the spider assemblies leaking. The way the plugs looks I would yank the upper intake and expect to see fuel puddled in the intake. Use one of the update kits if you replace the spider assembly.

Re: Plugs 1,3,5,7 ok; 2,4,6,8 fouled
Yes there was some leaking evident round the pressure regulator and at the front of the intake floor fuel was pooling in a couple of the weird pockets. Guess either there was a small crack in one of the poppet valve lines or because of the stuck poppet valves the fuel couldve been leakin out where the line and poppet meet. Not sure just knew there shouldve been no fuel on the intake floor.
