Throttle Linkage
So I hooked up the throttle linkage on my 56 last night using the stock pedal and rod linkage. This probably worked great for the inline 6 that was in the truck from new but I just can't get it to operate smoothly. I cut the linkage stem that comes through the firewall in half and re drilled a mount hole for the rod so it can operate the carb properly but I must have the geometry of it all wrong because it binds a bit. Is anyone else running the stock pedal and linkage with a small block? And if so, do you have any pictures you could post up?
If I have to swap to a cable operated linkage, what would be the best donor?

Good morning Tim! my truck had the original throttle linkage, but I don't think the linkage on the engine, (which I made the bellcrank or whatever it is), to make the throttle work. Of course this 230 I6 came out and an SBC went in. I went with a cable system from Scottshotrods and I like it just fine. Sorry I don't have a pic of it going through the firewall! I just wanted to share with you what I have for what it's worth.

Thanks for the pics lady, it's much appreciated. I ended up finding some pics from Orrie that he posted a while ago. Once again it's Orrie to the rescue with his in depth knowledge of these trucks.
Just so everyone else can see what it should look like, I'll post them here. I can see by his set up that I can to cut the lower to location where my rod attaches at the firewall pivot point.

FWIW mine came out of a 62 c10 pickup. Its a tight fit with the HEI. I fabbed the rod to the carb out of round stock and ends I had laying around. Here is a pic on the cab side and of the parts on the bench.

I'm running into the same problem. I did check it out and thought there was some binding going on. After looking closer I noticed there isn't much travel in the linkage. Hardly any, it doesn't take much to go full throttle. My truck is a 58 with 283 V8 2 bbl
