Question Holley 390 questions

i just picked up a used 390 off flea-bay. im not sure what it came from, im waiting for the seller to get back to me on that. all i know for sure is the electric choke control is missing and the choke flap itself is slightly bent but can be fixed. everything moves smoothly, no binding.

im collecting this and other parts to build a teeny bit better 292 inline 6 for my '69 lwb. i like the one 4 bbl setup, as opposed to a multiple carb setup... for now. mostly because the cost, tuning, and practicality (in that order). for this particular engine, id like to punch it out to .30 over, but if its already at .30 ill just go all the way to .60 over. fed by a single holley 390, some long tube headers, a cam in the area of 260-270 , 1.94 int, & 1.64 or 54 (i think) exh. valves, toss in a set of t6 super flow lumps a 3 angle valve job (if applicable).... the list goes on. i would like to put a new process A833 (MY0/MY6), or a T-5 from a camaro with an s-10 tailshaft. im pretty sure i still have the 4.11 gears in the rear end. eventually ill go to currie and see what it would cost me to get a nice 8 in. built for it, but for now my next plan is to buy this offy intake from jegs....or the 'bay

i went with the offy cause i hear its more suited for the low to 5k rpm range and the cliffords are better for the 5.5K+ range, and it looks like it can be used with a stock exhaust manifold. mabye im blind but i cant see anywhere on the jegs site that actually says it will. has anyone here tried this or can confirm that it will bolt up with the stock exh. manifold? if it will not work with the stock exhaust manifold, would the long tube headers work with it?

the offy looks like it comes with some bits for hookin up the carb to the pedal. is there a kit available specifically for the stock style rod linkage? or would it be best if i just spring for the throttle cable to replace the linkage all together?

i cant quite tell, but it looks kinna like it has water heat built into it..?


is it feasible to convert the carb to a manual choke? or does the elec. mechanism need to be replaced in order for the carb to function properly?
