ID these 3/4 ton wheels?

Can somebody tell me what kind of wheel is the white one? they came on my GMC Longhorn and they are 16's, are they stock ones? the other one is a 16.5 and it seems to be a bit skinnier than the white one, I've heard about the split rim ones and not being afe to use, is the black one split rim?

Thank you for any replies at all.

Fatman.

Some are split and some not. You can tell by looking at the bead area. It will have what looks like a large snap ring. Yours does not look like it.

that black rim you have is not a chevy wheel. there is no place to mount your center cap. it looks like a split rim type wheel, though. the white wheel is a later model tubeless type rim. much safer and you won't have to use inner tubes. i just switched mine over.

I have the original five split rims from my '67, and they look like the black one in fatman's pic. They don't have the same type of dog dish hubcaps, so they don't need same mount. There are spring clips on the inside of the lip that hold the hubcaps on. I think fatman's wheels could be GM wheels. I don't know what other manufacturer's split rims looked like, but the only difference I see in mine and fatman's is the lack of a gap in the outside (split) rim, as in 1969 GMC's pic.

I think the black split rim is pre 67 chevy.

whoa! Several opinions, cool! my rim does have a snap ring but it's not split (no gap) and the center does have clips for the hubcaps to go into, here's a close up, y'all can see where the clips are at, Thanks again guys for the replies!

BTW, this wheels came on my '68 chevy 3/4 ton.

That looks about right...cut it in 1/2 and burry it so no one will die.
not that you'd find a shop that would install a tire anyways.

Well he's in PA where he can't even pass the state inspection (from what I understand) if the truck still wears them.

Hey I know another answer. The black rim is referred to as a split rim although it does not sport the traditional split in it. It is actually slightly oval shaped but not enough to be noticeable. The ring is spun about 90 degrees to allow it to be removed. At least that is what the poor guy told me that did my tires. It took him three hours to get two tires on. He wasn't very happy. I wasn't very happy when the tube started to leak. I replaced my wheels with tubeless rims and can say I'm glad I did.
