Re: floor shifter removal

Make sure it's in neutral, then push down on the "ball" and turn counter clockwise a quarter turn and then lift the shifter straight up and out. Hope this makes sense to you

Re: floor shifter removal

GM techs used to have a special tool, but I've seen guys do it with a big pair of channel locks. Sometimes I cut 5/8'' wide notch in a short 2x4 stud, about 1-1/2'' deep --push down and twist.

Re: floor shifter removal

Same premise but the easiest way is to put a large screw driver in the corner of the retainer (where it makes the 90* turn) then smack it downward and counter clockwise at about a 45 degree angle. Pops right out that way. This is the way I have alwasy done them. Use a screwdriver with a good blunt tip.
