507 paint code-help!

The guy painting my truck is having a hard time locating the color for light blue.

Here is what I'm going off of:

http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcod...gi?comm=WE5120

Is there anything particular I need to give him?

Haha, not sure where he's getting it from. he sent me a sample and said it was from the dupont number I gave him.

It looks pretty close, I think it'll actually be lighter than that picture makes it seem.

Really having a problem understanding the problem.
If there is any question you can give him all seven of the codes on the right side of the page better yet send or copy the page for him. If that is not enough then find a vehicle painter. Those codes are industry standards. As to your sample, they typically dry a little lighter. Now what are you using for a color reference, a faded vehicle? Is he using a single stage or a BC CC system?

Re: 507 paint code-help!

Sorry. He said he was having a hard time finding the proper color going by all the paint codes I gave him. It sounded like I was getting a little bit of the runaround, because he initially asked me if Skyline Blue would be okay. I just wanted to make sure I was getting the right color, and that I didn't have to give him any additional info in oder to get 507. he claimed he found that sample off the Dupont 93-78387 code I gave him, but I had to make a point to ask him about the code, which seemed strange.

It's just a temporary paint job until I figure out what I really want the truck to look like...he's doing primer and color coat with no clear.

Re: 507 paint code-help!

Questions about a painter would make me stop and reevaluate my choice of painters. Now there are some painters who can do a really good consistant job on production parts. But that does not make them a car painter especially when it comes to color matching. If you are happy about his work then just cross check his color choice with an auto paint store to verify you are getting the correct shade you are paying for. His offer of a substitution as "close enough" would have stopped me there unless he was simply offering up a bargin, similar replacement for consideration.

Re: 507 paint code-help!

Well he came through pretty well from the early pictures he sent of it. The way he worded everything threw me off, but he did everything just like I wanted.

Thanks for the help!
