1967 GMC C1500 SS 4.1L build thread
Hey all:
I am new to the site and just thought I should share my build. I bought a 67 GMC step side c1500 last year for $500. a little history on the truck: it was bought in Salem, AL in 67 sat in a barn from 72-95 when it was bought by my boss in Wetumpka, AL(painted it red and installed wagon wheels) who drove it until 2002(thought he spun a rod bearing turned out to just be a loose rocker arm). It sat until 2012 when I bought it to be a back and forth to Lowes truck Millbrook, AL. could not stop there. I will start posting pics of what I have done and what it took to get me there. Here we go: Day one 6 Oct 2012:

pulled motor.
this is what it looks like when you leave the oil pan and spark plugs removed for ten years.

carried the block to the machine shop only to find a crack!
bought a new/used motor from a 83 chevy truck. put my rebuilt 1979 292 head on the 1983 250 block. gave the engine bay a cleanin and paint.

That'll be a sharp rig when your finished! Listen, I've got a nice chrome GMC grille and headlight doors the came out of a 69. Better than "driver" quality, but not show quality. Just good solid, straight original parts. If your interested, throw me a PM. Your what, say 40 miles N.E. of Prattville?

Re: 1967 GMC C1500 SS 4.1L build thread
Thanks guy's for all the great response. I am also glad to see so many people like the fact that I stuck with the 250 because I caught a lot of flak from my family about putting a 350 in it.
This weekend I cut a coil and a 1/2 out of the front, changed the wheel cylinders in the rear, installed my new tires and installed some new brake/turn signals(LED)in the bumped.

Thank you, kudos always makes for a good motivational tool for forward progression on this old rig. next order of business is the front drum brakes(refurbishment)

Nice work. I like the 6cyl but also like the red better. Just my preference.

Re: 1967 GMC C1500 SS 4.1L build thread
well after all that work of replacing all brake components I started bleeding the brakes and found out the wheel cylinders where not remand right the bleeder screw leaked, the line leaked and the old master cylinder leaked all under my dash. Back to the drawing board. Returning all parts to day so I can try a new manufacture. I know what you all are thinking just do a disc brake conversion. Well I am part of the government shutdown so that will have to wait. Drum brake repair for now.
