drop spindle caliper hitting not line
So I've searched some called the company bought New calipers and still nothing.
These spindles came from crown suspension and they basically told me they haven't seen any made the way mine are. I do have a 1 inch rotor and the calipers basically is binding up in the slot where it slides in. There is also a lip on caliper that is hitting. I've tried both aides with both calipers switched and using the correct side. So i went to auto zone bought a 1.250 and a 1 inch caliper and tried those. The 1.250 will clear but bolt holes are off. The New 1 inch has same lip. Ill try posting a picture but most of the time this phone doesn't let me. Im thinking I may have a bad batch of spindles. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: drop spindle caliper hitting not line
And i forgot to say I took the old caliper and grinded the lip off and it binds up in the slot for it to slide imo and can't get the slides in

Re: drop spindle caliper hitting not line
If they will stand behind their warranty, you might just return them and get some name brand spindles. For about an extra 30 dollars you can get a high quality spindle set that's proven to fit properly.
I got a pair of DJM 3 inch spindles from Summit for 239 pretty recently. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: drop spindle caliper hitting not line
My wheels clear with no mods at all, but they are the skinny hubcap wheels.
Otherwise the usual applies where you might have to trim the edge of the control arm a bit if you have wider or deeper backspaces wheels. That's the same for all spindles. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: drop spindle caliper hitting not line
Looks similar to the issue I ran into with western chassis. After talking to them they told me where to shave a little off the spindle and the caliper if I wanted to. Worked like a charm. He tole me castings have been off recently.

Re: drop spindle caliper hitting not line
Well they sorta backed their product up. Tried advance and auto zone both 1" and 1 1/4" calipers and with the 1 1/4 they don't hit but the bolt holes were off.
Guy on the phone told me that something is up with my truck it must have c20 suspension. I thought its kinda funny that I tried so many different NEW calipers and none worked. They also said they have installed over 30 sets in house and never had a problem. So im guessing theres never a first for anything. Hope they get them back and start looking and find that I was right. So im shopping again wheres a good place to buy them from? |

Re: drop spindle caliper hitting not line
I've never found any place that can sell me a pair of drop spindles delivered to my door cheaper than Summit.
They are currently running free shipping on all brands of drop spindles. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: drop spindle caliper hitting not line
All of these are for the 1" rotors.
That's also why the price is slighty higher than the HD versions. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/su...olet/model/c10 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/dj...10?prefilter=1 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ws...olet/model/c10 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/be...olet/model/c10

Re: drop spindle caliper hitting not line
So the caliper wont slide in? I had the same problem with 1" rotors, and cut about an 1/8 inch off of the spindle where the caliper slides in and it worked perfectly. Was a PITA though.

Re: drop spindle caliper hitting not line
I've used Belltech Part#3200 (73-87) drop spindles for 1" Light Duty rotors for years with no issues what so ever.
That's what I usually recommend,... but most just want the cheapest. (the Belltech spindles are usually over $310) Quality comes with a price,...

Ha.
I understand. Everyone chooses to spend their money on certain things. If I don't have the money,... I wait until I do.

Re: drop spindle caliper hitting not line
Yes,... but you will have to do some trimming of the lower a-arm around the balljoint area.
I do it with all C10 drop spindles. 2.5" and 3" drop.

Re: drop spindle caliper hitting not line
Thanks for the info. I'm getting ready to do my first drop 3/5 with a flip in the rear and want it to be as painless as possible.

Re: drop spindle caliper hitting not line
It's all about backspacing with the 15" Rally's. 4" or less and you should be fine. I had to put 7" Rally's on the front and used 8" on back.

Re: drop spindle caliper hitting not line
8in truck rallys have 4.25 in back space. I am running 7" Rallys on front and the back spacing is 3 5/8" and there are no clearance issues. I think the 6.5" van rally's have 4" back spacing. Sometimes the rubber will hit and no trimming is going got fix that.
What is the backspacing on your 6.5s?
