Talking Newbie

Greetings from North Texas!
When I turned 16 (1986) I bought a 1969 C/10 short/wide. Through the years I began collecting all the parts needed for a complete frame-off. As Life has it the family grew and the 69 had to go in favor of a 2003 Duramax Crew cab. The 69 was sold with all the parts to a loving home. man I miss that old truck
Well God works is strange ways... The other day, I friend of mine gave a 1970 C/10 short/wide that has been sitting since 1980 in his back yard.
The truck is in great physical shape Its just really ugly. So now I have a place to put the 5.3/4L60E and complete electrical system I have sitting in the shed.

Well, that's a little about myself. I will say I am amazed at all the parts that are available for these trucks now.

Re: Newbie

LongNlow/Yellow70, Thanks, it will be a while, My daughters 87 IROC needs a lot of TLC and my son rolled his 99 Z/71. He amazingly did not damage the truck too bad, with a parts truck his is almost done. This is where my 5.3 came from.

Re: Newbie

I live way-way out in the sticks.
Incidentally, That's a near perfect 64 C/10 short/wide in the pic. That has also sat since 1980. (And a 57 Bel-Aire that you can see).
He gave Me that one as well. It's a long story of heart ache behind these trucks. He is now crippled, so I'm going to try and get "Over-Haulin" or some other charity group to restore it with hand controls for him. (The 64)

Re: Newbie

Yes, I like the Patina. My plan is to get it running and driving. Slowly do all the mods then tear it down for a full frame-off. It will be Hugger Orange with black Hounds-tooth. My plan it to fully update it with everything modern. Only keeping the vintage look inside an out.

That's a backyard? Looks like it's the back 40 LOL. Truck looks fairly solid, get some pics posted when you get it in the open. Congrats on the find and welcome from Nor Cali..

Re: Newbie

What a great story and a great way to get started on a C10 project. I love the idea of Hugger Orange as you can see I am very partial to it :-)
