Anybody running a mechanical fan?
Huh? I think I have room for a mechanical fan, just wondered if anybody used one and how well it works ( I know they work better on most muscle cars that I have done). Just kinda concerned about the shroud.

Re: Anybody running a mechanical fan?
What year truck? I have always ran a mechanical fan on mine. This go around I switched to a big truck radiator (1" thicker and deeper) to compensate for the additional AC condenser load and potential towing. Before with the stock radiator, adapted 70's shroud, and aftermarket aluminum fan I never had problems with overheating, even crawling around in the woods. engine then was a 283 with cam, nothing fancy. Radiator is in the stock 6 position which give lots of room for V8 apps.

Re: Anybody running a mechanical fan?
I'm running three mechanical fan engines w/o shroud.
One has a backup elec fan; I never tried it w/o the bu fan. I like over sized radiator for non-OEM applications. |

Re: Anybody running a mechanical fan?
How low does the engine sit? will the fan only hit about a 1/3 of the radiator? With mine I also ran into the fan would also hit my cooling lines from my Trans so I used the Zips pump riser which raises the pump about 5 inches so it is centered on the radiator this is on my 49 AD with a 350/350
