Keep the 454?

I own a 76 S/S Silverado with the original 454, 400TH, and 12 posi 340's. My question is, I have built another 425 HP 454 and trans that is ready to go in, would you keep the original drive train? I've been offered 600.00 for the old tired motor. Thanks! It is all tan tweed, 17's, lowered, original orange, and 400 watt stereo system. Oak bed next...

Why don't you rebuild this one and then sell it? Welcome to the board, and how about some pictures?

Nice truck!

I do not think having the original engine in the truck makes any difference. I say sell the old 454 and use the new one...it would be easier and youd have more cash quickly for other things.

I'd say sell it for sure.

I've seen that truck somewhere before. Maybe on another board? Look good!

Hey Scott, I was thinking the same thing. I believe Swervin has it on his site. But Joe, go with the new motor, sell the old one and get that oak bed kit. BTW Awesome looking truck, bet that orange makes it really stick out.

Just asking

Hey guys, perhaps you could write to each other regarding signatures, etc. Really not interesting to anyone else, no offense.

Another nice stepside to add to the list. I've seen your truck on Swervins site, it is very nice and I would like to see some more pics if you have any!

No, I like PF but more appropriate on Chat. Just when I think I've got something interesting to read regarding thread, I find chat. Oh well, like I said, don't take offense.

hate to say it but I dont see a #'s matching 73-87 being all that valuable any time soon. Still, I winced at the site of the blade cutting the #'s off my 77's 400sbc when the block was decked. How many guys are kicking themselves for selling the old 327, 350, 454 etc from their 60s and 70s muscle cars..

Okay, took a quick poll, and sold it. Thanks for all the advice and my new block is stamped '76 year, so close enough. It will go in over the next couple of weeks, looks sweet! 425HP, 500ftlbs torque, LS5 heads (6 angle valve job) Polished RPM performer, Holley 750 comp, KB Hyp, .030 over, etc. etc. I'll post times after I run it, looking for 14's at 5,500 ft or bust!
