Front Turn signal Socket

Where can I buy the front turn signal socket for my 68 gmc? The PO had wired in a generic socket and forced it into the housing. I checked the local partszone but nothing. Anyone sell the correct socket? I dont need the housing.

Nobody makes the entire extension harness that goes from the firewall to socket.

If you dont mind splicing, I did see that Autozone has sockets for the 1157 bulbs, but I dont know if the socket fits the GMC housings.

I am searching for the same parts at the moment. You can come by them on the parts board here as well.

I dont mind splicing. I know one of the vendors sells the whole lense, housing, and socket but i only need the socket. Ill post up in the wanted section.

I used this on the front of my 66. No issues so far. I bought it from O'Reilly's for about $5. http://compare.ebay.com/like/3502173...ypes&var=sbarI could not find it on the website but this is the part I used.

The aftermarket one I have looks like the one you linked.

Upon further investigation, I noticed the turn signal with the aftermarket socket has the bulb going into the housing from the bottom. When I look on the other side, the plug and wiring look factory to me but the bulb goes into the housing from the top. Which is correct?

Not sure if it matters but its the passenger side that goes in from the top and the drivers side that goes in from the bottom. Whats the orientation supposed to be?

mine go in from the bottom. They only go in one way. There's a flat piece on the plug that has to line up with the one in the housing or it doesn't sit flush. I will go take a pic of mine.

Mine is also as you described, a locating tab that locates the socket in the housing. Im assuming the socket is held in place by the metal tabs? Mine looks all pressed in and deformed maybe thats why its been falling out. Just curious what #bulb are you running?

You are correct the metal tab snap it into place. They should enter the housing from the bottom.

I would venture a guess that it was previously replaced with one from the improper side. That would explain the spliced in new socket as well.

Bulb should be an #1157
