Question Help! Looking for rebuild project for bored friend

Hey all. I'm trying to help a friend in locating a 65-70 chevy step side project truck. I've checked with some local salvage yards, but finding an actual frame and body is about impossible. Have also checked on Craigslist but a lot of people have "started" the project and now don't have the money to finish. I was hoping that some of you may have a better suggestion as to where to look. I was hoping to surprise him for his birthday which is in September...so not a lot of time.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

My advice is to just be patient and keep looking because one will popup eventually.
Keep in mind the larger the city the more likely you are to find one.
A couple other pieces of advice if I may.
Avoid trucks with major roof rust damage because they are the most expensive and challenging to repair.
Make sure the VIN on the B-Pillar and Frame match because you don't want registration issues.

Xeen is dead-on with the advice, especially on the rust repair. Take your time and thoroughly go over every inch so that you know what you're getting. You want something that you can enjoy - not regret!

Good luck with the search. There are some good trucks out there.

I'd keep looking on cl. Some people want more than the truck is worth so be careful. eBay has some good starters every now and then too. Local news papers are great to find them from the "old timers" as we'll. keep looking and let us know what you find!
