1963 Bel Air
It all started out with a buddy of mine wanting a 60's Impala. He's not familiar with classic cars so he asked that I help look around. I ran into this car and thought it was perfect so I pointed it out to him. This car was very original, rust free, unmolested and could be driven around all day without a hiccup. He couldn't live with it being a post car so he passed on it. I loved the car, but didn't have cash at the time. Later it re-appeared and guess what? I had cash so I pulled the trigger.

Thanks fellas. I just got it Monday. I've been changing the fluids and checking everything before I really start driving it. I'm going to keep it simple and as "original looking" as possible. The first major thing is a front power disc brake swap and just drive it. Along the way, maybe redo the interior, add Vintage Air and do something with the suspension.

I've looked into it already, but I don't have the means to install myself. I did a quick search around town and a shop quoted me $1750 just for labor. Does that even sound right? I stopped looking after I that.

I actually thought the same thing but installed an air ride setup earlier this spring for the first time. It is not as bad as you think.
You could pick up a manual or electric switch setup and possibly bags for $1500 or less. Trust me... If I can do it, you can. I'm just curious (and you can give us a ball park or tell me to go away) but what kind of price did it take to buy this off the PO? These original cars are getting tougher and more expensive to find. No major updates. I've just been driving it. All I pretty much did as far as looks is shine it up a little bit, added the crossed flags emblems on the fenders and mounted up some 15x8 and 15x7 steelies with 225/70 and 255/60s. I had some '69 poverty caps laying around so I'm using those for now.

That is a great looking car.
The size difference in the front a rear rims/tires set the stance and helps beef up the look. No bags needed on this one.

He did. He's supposedly back in the market for one...again.
I went out and bought a cabinet blaster from Harbor Freight for $100. It works great for what I'm going to use it for. Next thing I want to do is clean up under the hood. It's a bone stock 283 with PG that's already fairly clean and very complete. I'm just going to make it look new again. Close to it at least. Before and after pics soon. Posted via Mobile Device
