1'' Rotors And Calipers
from what specific 73-up model can i source the 1'' rotors and calipers from? rockauto doesnt specify thickness when ordering and im not sure of the specific models

Why not buy from a local parts store? Then you can check them out before you pay for them.

Mine are from a 1985 gmc,305 ci 1/2 ton and they are the 1 inch rotor

I'm pretty sure 73-80 is a 1.25" rotor and 81-87 is a 1" rotor

see thats the thing, the guy i got the spindles from had them on a '74; so i bought '74 upper ball joints and tie rod ends. can anyone else confirm that 81-87 have 1'' rotors?

Yep,... 81-87 trucks could have either rotor width.
Usually the 1" rotor trucks have only 2" wide rear brake drums. That's how my local parts house shows them.

Here are a couple brake system release charts (for a '74, and for an '87).
