Clicking?!
Hey good morning guys,
I have this clicking coming from somewhere, and I cant Figure it out! It clicks in idle, and when i accelerate. When i put my transmission in park, it stops! It sounds like the speedo cable type clicking but comes from the passenger side of the cab? I have AC, but I can turn it on and off, and it still clicks! Going 40mph, and giving it gas, it clicks a lot! I checked my Tranny fluid, and its on the "add" line, but im at work so it'll have to wait till later. any clues on what this can be? i never have this clicking, the closest thing i ever had to this was an exhaust leak |

Re: Clicking?!
I was thinking if it can possibly be my Speedo- cable?

Re: Clicking?!
My drivers side and now my passenger side lifters make noise, because my sb 400 leaks 2qts a week and it runs out when I forget, so I just get to deal with the sound for another 2 weeks till my crate motor is in.

Re: Clicking?!
If the speedo jumps around your speedo cable ether needs to be replaced or could use a little lubrication, check that too.
You said it stops in park but is present in gear, makes me think exhaust leak or something from the tranny. Block the wheels AND get a buddy to stab on the brakes (safety first) while you move about and listen for the sound, if you don't have a mechanics stethoscope use a wooden dowel or a long screw driver and put your ear up to it at different places to try and pin point the noise under the hood and also under the truck. It may not be audible in park as there is no load on the engine?

Re: Clicking?!
check your flywheel/flexplate if it has a crack in gear with a load it will show up and in park without a load it would go away if not a major crack. Just a thought
